Palo Alto Networks is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm Koi Security for approximately $400 million. This potential acquisition would mark the first major deal involving an Israeli company since the departure of Palo Alto Networks' founder Nir Zuk from his role as chief technology officer last year. Koi Security, led by founders Amit Assaraf, Idan Dardikman, and Itay Kruk, has developed a cutting-edge software engine that leverages large language models and artificial intelligence agents to detect malware and vulnerabilities in software applications and extensions. The engine is capable of scanning popular application and extension stores, helping organizations identify and prevent the spread of security threats. While a preliminary agreement has been signed, the deal is not yet finalized, and both companies have declined to comment.
