In the southern city of Khan Yunis, Gaza, a group of young girls have taken up boxing as a way to cope with the trauma and psychological scars left by the ongoing conflict. Led by coach Osama Ayub, who lost his home and club in Gaza City during the war, these training sessions offer a rare outlet for displaced children living in makeshift shelters. Ayub now trains 45 girls aged eight to nineteen, improvising with limited resources to build a boxing ring and provide free classes.
The girls, many of whom have lost family members, use boxing to release pent-up emotions and regain a sense of normalcy. Fourteen-year-old Ghazal Radwan dreams of becoming a champion and representing her country internationally. Despite the lack of proper equipment and facilities, the girls remain determined, calling on the international community for support and supplies. The strict blockade and scarcity of materials make rebuilding sports infrastructure nearly impossible, but the spirit of these young athletes persists amid adversity.
